This project was designed as “two dwellingsâ€, a year-round home for the parents and a weekend home for their children, one set on top of the other where they would share the living room and several common areas in an attempt to avoid hallways and always-closed doors. Everything sits under the same single-sloped roof and over a series of platforms that adjust to the terrain, like scales. The house is open to the landscape that rises up the valley, providing a slanted view of the town it leaves behind. The first dwelling that we built was drawn from the tranquil modernity associated with the work of Siza Vieira or that of Coderch and Enric Miralles with whom I once worked when I was a student.
