Given that the number of family members is reducing and with the aim to satisfy the demands for small apartments in the downtown, this project involves the conversion of a 40’s-era building into a series of 45- to 55-m2 dwellings composed of a dining room and built-in kitchenette, one double bedroom and a full bath, in the mode of a luxury suite. Luxury, because it is always a luxury to live in the city centre. The fact of having to subdivide the original floors, and the old staircase located to one end of the building, forced the dwelling’s entrance design to be down a series of hallways lined with engraved tiles set through the centre of the block, separated from the existing volumetry to guarantee the privacy of the residents.
