House in Segur Street

A certain aroma of Dutch architecture and modern abstraction presides over the final image.

A project for an integral renovation of a self-constructed dwelling from the fifties with a ground floor and basement, adding two floors to be used as two apartments for each of the family’s children. The project was obligated to recess the new floors in respect to the facade plane, due to the new urban building code in force in the area, a reason why it was not chosen to raze the entire building and rebuild the house, which from a construction standpoint would have been much easier, but would have incurred a subsequent loss in square meters. The old house and the new dividing wall are panelled in Prodema while the rest is finished with a metallic skin, offspring of the solution used in Diagonal Minerva (there a plane, here in volume) which defines the facades to the garden.
